I was just about pulling the card for today when a little flock of sparrows descended in the garden. As messages go there couldn’t be a clearer one.
The humble sparrow is a busy bird who is rarely sighted alone. She is gorgeous in her simplicity. Most of the foraging is done to make her home more comfortable, yet she takes time to have a little mud bath along the way.
And these are the messages from the sparrow. To find joy in the small everyday things and not get caught up only in big things. To pay attention to your home and to pretty it up and make it comfortable for you. If something needs to change or is causing you discomfort fix it. The same applies to the workplace, if the sun’s in your eye or the chair is uncomfortable, sort it out.
The sparrow is also about community and working together – if there is something that your building or locality needs, lend a hand.
The last message is of simplicity. If you don’t have wrapping paper, try a regular brown paper and a regular ribbon. It can be far prettier than the wrapping paper. Look for the creativity in simplicity, not just for decoration but for the answers of life.
